Runes

To learn the runes, Odin has pinned himself by his own spear to Yggdrasil and hang there for nine days without food and water. Only after that he has calmed the thirst with his grandfather Beltorn sacred honey and heard the runes. He has drawn first of them on Yggdrasil with his own spear and blood.

Rune alphabet in Battle for Elements consists of 42 runes and each of them not just represent the letter of alphabet but also has it's own meaning. Runes are drawn on small magic stones and can be transferred to the weapon or armor.

There are 4 Aetts in alphabet, each contains 8 runes and has own color: the first is light-blue, the second is green, the third is red and the fourth is white. Runes of the same aett can empower each other and form a rune word if melted into a weapon or body armor in the right order. There are also seven runes for each character class and three runes out of classes. Besides that, you can find blank magic stones in the Sanctuary and draw class runes on them. The alphabet itself is called Futhark by the first letters of first six runes.

The BFE rune system is based on Anglo-Saxons rune alphabet.
